A cold but enjoyable Boyle parade

A bitterly cold east wind and a very important rugby match did not deter the crowds from lining the streets of Boyle for this year’s St. Patrick’s Day parade.

Over 30 floats, groups and clubs participated led by grand marshal Tadhg Griffin with music provided by the Lisbeg Pipe Band from Ballygawley in County Tyrone.

MC Mike Smith provided regular updates on the rugby while giving commentary on the various floats.

When the last float passed, the streets emptied at break neck speed as the crowds ventured into various hostelries to watch the remainer of the big match.

The organisers would like to thank all who made the day possible including the stewards, Gardai, businesses who donated to the parade, those who participated and all who came out in support.

The following were the prize winners:

1st Overall – Boyle Summer Show

2nd  – Darkness into Light

Junior Category – Ladybirds Brownies

2nd Junior – Boyle Camogie Club

Best Window Display – Tony Murphy Visionary Photography
