Boyle Library Book Club
Next meeting will take place on Wednesday 15th February in the Library from 11am until 12.30pm. The book up for discussion is The Boarding House by William Trevor.

Grange NS Enrolment 2017/18
Are you are interested in enrolling your child in Grange National School for the 2017/18 academic year? If so please contact the school for an enrolment pack on 071 966 3424. The closing date is Friday 17th February 2017.

Table Quiz in Ballinafad
Table Quiz will be taking place in The Mayfly Inn on Friday February 17th 9pm. Proceeds in aid of Aughanagh Parish refurbishment. Your support would be greatly appreciated.

Recycled Clothing Collection
The Playground Committee in Ballinafad are organising a Recycled/Used Clothing Collection on Saturday 18th February at Ballinafad Hall from 11am until1pm.
Items accepted: All clean Clothes, handbags, hats, belts, pairs of shoes, towels & bed-linen.
Not Accepted: Duvets, pillows, cushions, soft toys or bric a brac. All money raised goes towards the Playground Insurance.

Food Hygiene Training
A Food Hygiene Course (HACCP Level 1 & 2) will take place in Boyle Enterprise Centre on Tuesday February 21st at Boyle Enterprise Centre 9.30 until 4.30. Neven Maguire in Kilronan Castle
A cookery demonstration with the renowned chef Neven Maguire will take place on Wednesday 1st March 2017 in Kilronan Castle. Wine & Canape Reception from 7pm with an opportunity to browse the local produce and craft stands. Demo starts at 8pm with a raffle for great prizes. Tickets €20 and are on sale at Kilronan Castle, Surprises and Boyle Motor Works. Proceeds in aid of Ardcarne Community Childcare Services and a contribution will be given to St. Michaels and St Patricks NS Cootehall.

Boyle St. Patrick’s Day Parade

This year’s Boyle St Patricks Day Parade promises to be the best ever with a special International flavour including traditional Samba Dancers! Our Parade will commence at 3.30pm on Friday 17th March. We encourage as many businesses, clubs and associations in Boyle to prepare over the coming weeks to partake in the Parade and enter a float. Entering a float is free so do avail of the opportunity! 1st Prize for Overall Winner is €500 with a runner up of €200; There is also a Junior Section (under 16) 1st Prize is €200 and runner up €100 and of course the Perpetual Cup for the best dressed Window display in town. The success of the Parade depends on the Community and Businesses to get involved and showcase Boyle at its best. Taking part with a float in the Parade offers a great opportunity to promote your club, school or business which we’re all very proud of. Over the coming weeks letters will be dropped into businesses seeking contributions towards the Parade and the organising committee thank the Community always for the warm welcome they receive and their financial support.

Golf Classic Fundraiser
A Golf Classic will be held in Boyle Golf Club for Boyle Courthouse & Model Railway on Saturday 25th & Sunday 26th March. Teams of 4 – price €100 per team / Lunch is included in entrance fee – your support is most welcome – confirmation is needed by Tuesday 21st February

Lough Key Tri a Tri
Lough key Triathlon Club will hold their Tri a Tri event this year on Sunday April 2nd commencing at Aura Leisure Centre in Carrick on Shannon. The event is for complete beginners and consists of a 250m pool swim, 13k cycle and 4k run. There will be an entry fee of €25 and entry is limited to the first 100 participants. All participants will get a technical t shirt and refreshments after the event.

Boyle & District Angling Club
Boyle Annual Pike Angling Festival will be taking place on the Easter weekend, Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th April on Lough Key, Boyle. €5000 guaranteed prize fund 1st Prize €2,500 plus the Moonstone Jewellers Perpetual Cup. In addition, Saturday and Sunday’s winners will each receive €1175 in prize money. Entry Fee per person – Adults €60 / Juniors €20 (Junior’s must fish for junior prize and be accompanied by a fee paying adult). Boyle Golf Club Spring League
The PD Golf sponsored Spring League continued this last week with overnight frost delaying action on Sunday 7th February for the second week running. Beginning with the first group the biggest movers were Peggy Feely and Kevin O’Connor who had a 5 hole win over their opponents which leaves them in second place behind Shane Loftus & Regina McLoughlin. In group two, Paul Connolly & Seth Meredith now lead the way after having overtaken Jim Dwyer & Tommy King who now lie in second position. Moving to group three, Vincent Egan and Lewis Shaw remain in poll position despite taking a break this week! Pat Conroy & Susan O’Mahoney stay in second place but have closed the gap to two holes. In the fourth group, pairs five and six, namely Michael Rush/Gerry O’Hara and Paddy McLoughlin/Mandy Toolan are currently jostling for the top spot with the former holding the upper hand by one hole. Pieta House Darkness Into Light
Pieta House is the National Centre for the prevention of Suicide and Self-Harm and Suicide Bereavement Support. We would like to ask for community help to bring Darkness into Light to Boyle for 2017. We would like to meet with like-minded people to form a Boyle DiL committee. Please contact Tom McEvoy at [email protected] or 087 243 0700 for further information. This very successful charity 5km Run/Walk event is now in its 9th year and will take place in 160 locations throughout the world all starting at 4.15am on the 6th May 2017. This event helps to fund the work of Pieta House nationwide.

Courtyard Market
The market is now open for Organic Fruit and Vegetables, Organic Eggs, Olive Oil, Achill Sea Salt, Breads, Cakes and Tarts. The market will be open from 10am until 2pm each and every Saturday.
