ARDCARNE ART CLASSES
Art Classes at Ardcarne Garden Centre Boyle have started again from Friday 9th October for six weeks. There are still some places available – Please ring 071 9667 091 to book.
GALILEE COMMUNITY
Alf Monaghan will present a series of three illustrated talks focusing on Eastern influence on early Irish Christianity and the religions that preceded it. Location is Galilee Community, Tintagh, Boyle, (near the Gaelic Chieftain on the Sligo/Dublin Road). FOOD PRODUCER EVENT
The EU Nourish Programme, in conjunction with the Upper Shannon Erne Project, the Local Enterprise Offices and Aurivo, are holding a FREE regional food event for food producers and buyers from across the region on the 14th of October in Lough Allen Hotel, Drumshanbo from 10:00a.m. – 5:30p.m. Attendees can look forward to exploring creative ways to produce, market and distribute healthy food, while meeting like-minded entrepreneurs and buyers, and of course, sampling some of the innovative and healthy foods on offer in the region. If anyone would like to listen to a great range of speakers covering the challenges of distribution, financing expansion and hear at first hand the stories of other food producers from the region they can register for FREE to attend on www.nourisheu.com/booking. This is a trade only event and a great opportunity to build contacts with other food companies and support agencies and bodies across Cavan, Roscommon, Longford, Leitrim and beyond.

McALEESE COLLECTION
President Mary McAleese has donated more than 60 gifts to the State she received during her 14 years in office and will be launched on Friday October 16th in King House and will prove to be a major visitor attraction. Many of those items were presented by Heads of State from around the world, including Barack Obama and Yasser Arafat. To have some of these presentations now on permanent display at King House in Boyle will certainly prove to be a major attraction for visitors at home and abroad. Undoubtedly, the collection will enhance the visitor experience at King House.

RETAIL TRAINING POSTPONED
Local Enterprise Office Roscommon – Introductory Retail Training Session’ set for Tuesday evening next, 13th October at 7pm in the Abbey Hotel, has been postponed – LEO Roscommon will have further news on this programme in the New Year.
WALK THE WORLD
Walk with us in aid of the Irish Cancer Society’s Action Breast Society on Saturday 17th October at 2pm commencing at Cooney Motors show room, Greatmeadow. Registration forms can be had at the till in store. This is in aid of a great cause, so please walk or donate.
BOYLE BADMINTON
Badminton resumes on Monday nights. Registration will cost €70. For further information ask the Club Officers, you can find them on their Facebook Page.
CELTIC DRAW
Tickets are now on sale for the Boyle Celtic Fuel Draw which will take place in Dodd’s Crescent Bar on Saturday 31st October. Tickets are available from players, committee members and retail outlets in the area. Great prizes to be won.
BOYLE FARMERS MARKET
The Market is open from 10am to 2pm each and every Saturday in the grounds of King House, Boyle, with special offers on some stalls each week. If you would like to enjoy the best locally grown fresh and organic produce, then a trip to Boyle Farmers’ Market on Saturday should be on your agenda. There is a wide range of seasonal produce, including organic fruit and vegetables, homemade jams and marmalade, organic free range eggs, fruit juices, gluten free/ sour dough/ spelt bread and all kinds of delicious home bakes are available every week. Alongside the food stalls are a number of crafters selling their handmade wares, personalized candles and knitwear. Thanks to the teams from Boyle, Carrick, Strokestown, Castlerea,
Ballaghaderreen, Roscommon & Athlone who took part and thanks to all
who organized the event. The winning Boyle team was Tish Perry, Liz
Dwyer, Claire Cryan, Kathleen Candon, Susan O’Mahoney, Moira Egan &
Regina McLoughlin. The Winter League commenced last weekend with Team Gaffney leading on 121pts and Team Heslin in 2nd place on 119pts. Full results and placings are on the noticeboard. The weekly nine hole was won by Seamus Gallagher 22pts, 2nd Padraig O’Connell 21pts, 3rd Michael Rush 20pts. The weekly nine hole can be played Monday – Sunday during the winter league, entry is €5, re-entry €3.
