Handwriting competition in Scoil na nAingeal Naofa Primary School. 2 age categories: 8-10 years and 10 -12 years will be taking place on Thursday 6th April at 3:30pm Entry fee €2.

Fashion Show
Magees Fashion Shop and Aidan Ray Menswear will be hosting a fashion show in St Joseph’s Hall Boyle on Thursday 6th April at 8pm with all proceeds to Scoil na nAingeal Naofa.

Curlew Walkers Club

The next meeting of the Curlew Walkers club will be taking place on Saturday 8th April, meeting on the Crescent, Boyle at 9am. This will be a Climb/Grade A at Nephin Beg.. Your leader for the day will be Fidelma Brennan 087 2343 615. Please confirm times with leader or website prior to each walk www.walkingboyle.com. If you wish to meet up at a point convenient for yourself, contact relevant leader.

Easter Egg Hunt
The Courtyard Market will be holding their Annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday 15th April 10am until 2pm. All welcome.

Cookery foundation course

A Free Cookery Foundation Course will be taking place this Easter in Abbey Community College/ Boyle Enterprise Centre. This course is suitable for anyone seeking employment in the Restaurant/Hotel/Nursing Home or Deli Sectors. Tonya Keane BA (Hons) Culinary Arts will be the Tutor for this course which will take place on Monday 10th April – Friday 28th April from 9.30 until 4.30. Bright Sparks Quiz
The Boyle Christmas Lights Crew invite all Businesses, Community groups, Clubs and friends to join them on Good Friday 14th April in St. Josephs Hall in search of the Brightest Sparks in Boyle! Table of four costs €40, and proceeds will go the Christmas Lights fund.
The crew thank you sincerely for your continued support over the years, which has enabled buy the lights, add new additions and continue to expand our array of lights- including the lighting of same over the festive period. Good Friday Night is a guaranteed night of fun and enjoyment and we appeal to all to support the event. Tables can be pre booked with any of the following: Brian Kelly, Cecil Draper, Stephen Bohan, Patricia Golden, Deirdre Purcell, Liz Gannon, Siobhan Gallagher.

Boyle and District Angling Club
Boyle Annual Pike Angling Festival will be taking place on the Easter weekend, Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th April on Lough Key, Boyle. €5000 guaranteed prize fund 1st Prize €2,500 plus the Moonstone Jewellers Perpetual Cup. In addition, Saturday and Sunday’s winners will each receive €1175 in prize money. Entry Fee per person – Adults €60 / Juniors €20 (Junior’s must fish for junior prize and be accompanied by a fee paying adult). Funwalk and Run
Easter Monday 17th April why not walk off the Chocolate Eggs by participating in a 6k FunWalk/Run starting from Cavetown Amenity Centre at 2pm with registration at 1.30pm.Entry €5 per adult and children go free. Proceeds in aid of Cavetown Amenity Development. Refreshments served everybody welcome.

Tawnytaskin Community Centre

The annual Afternoon Tea Event will once again take place this Easter Sunday and Monday April 16th and 17th. This year all monies raised will go to purchase a defibrillator. It is the Committee’s intention to place the defibrillator outside of the building in case of emergencies. We are delighted to announce we will have Martina Morris, photographer exhibit her fantastic pictures and cards. Further details contact Ann on 086 813 0005.

Craft Workshop
Una Bhan Tourism Boyle will be holding their Craft Workshop on Tuesday 18th through to Friday 21st April. All children over the age of 5 are most welcome. For further information call 071 9930 33.

Calling all Roscommon writers
You are invited to celebrate National Poetry Day at lunchtime, in Boyle, Ballaghaderreen and Roscommon libraries. National Poetry Day takes place on Thursday 27th April and events will be held in the three libraries at 1.30pm that day. Light refreshments provided, and all are welcome. The theme this year is “movement, migration, and home” and you can get involved. For a chance to have your poetry displayed in your favourite library, please submit one or two poems to [email protected] during the month of March. Tell the organisers which library you use, and include the title of the poem, your name on the poem itself, and if you’re a younger person give your age and school too. Poems can also be handed in to your local librarian.

Roscommon Learning Links, Boyle
Places coming available on Full Time (4.5 days) Level 4 and Level 5 Information Technology Courses at Roscommon Learning Links, Elphin Street, Boyle. Take the opportunity to get certified over the coming months. These courses available to anyone currently registered with Department of Social Protection and eager to gain QQI certification. Toughest Muckers
Entry will soon open for Ireland’s Toughest Muckers challenge which will take place once again in Lough Key Forest Park on Saturday June 10th. A new website will be launched later this month for the event and a dedicated entry section will be available on the website. The 10k obstacle challenge will have a number of new features this year according to one of the organisers A “Little Muckers” course will be added this year for participants under 16 years of age with all monies raised from this section going to a nominated children’s charity. This is the fifth year for Toughest Muckers to be held in Boyle and early indications are that it will be a sell-out event. And remember, your entry gets you free beer, food and entertainment at the finish line.

Courtyard Market
The market is now open for Organic Fruit and Vegetables, Organic Eggs, Olive Oil, Achill Sea Salt, Breads, Cakes and Tarts. The market will be open from 10am until 2pm each and every Saturday.
