Boyle GAA club news

Our McGovern Directional Drilling Seniors suffered an agonising 3 point defeat to Padraig Pearses in the 3rd round of the Hodson Bay Hotel Senior Football Championship at wet and windy Tulsk on Sunday. The lads went in leading by 3 points at half time despite having played against the wind. Pearses upped their game in the second half, soring 2 further goals, to run out 3 point winners. Boyle will have a chance to redeem themselves on Sunday next when they play their 4th round Senior Championship game against Roscommon Gaels in the first game of a double header in Elphin at 4pm. We again appeal to our loyal supporters to come along again for this vital game in what is proving to be a close group.

Our U12 Division 5 team had a one goal win over Roscommon Gaels in the Summer League in Lisnamult . They have a busy schedule coming up with both the Division 1 and Division 5 teams due to make the long journey to Woodmount on Saturday next to play Padraig Pearses at 2pm and 3.15pm respectively. They are also scheduled to host St Brigids in the Abbey Park in the next rounds of the Division 1 and Division 5 Summer League on Tuesday 15th at 7.30pm and 7.30pm respectively.

Our U16s are scheduled to play Eire Og on this Tuesday at t.30pm in the Division 3 Championship in Loughglynn.

The Club will host a very attractive Intermediate Championship double header in the Abbey Park on Saturday next, with Shannon Gaels taking on St Barrys at 5.15pm and St Michaels playing Eire Og at 7pm. All Club members are asked to be present 3.45pm to act as stewards.

Saturday is a hugely busy day for the Club as it will stage its Monster Auction in the Sports Complex at 1pm. There are approximately 150 lots including household furniture, mechanical and electrical goods,  All Ireland Football Final and Manchester United tickets, turf, coal, timber, educational and interviewing tuition vouchers, weekend away and golfing vouchers, car services, beauty, make up and hairdressing vouchers. There will be a catalogue available on the day and all items will be on display. Ample car parking will be available. Please come early to  view what’s on offer. All goods will be sold on the day and all proceeds will go towards the support of the Club.

Ladies Club

The Boyle Ladies lost to a stronger Padraig Pearses in the Championship on Tuesday last. A slow first half start left themwith too much to do despite an encouraging second half.

The Club extends sympathy to our Club President Barry Feely, and to the extended Feely family on the death of Barry’s sister in law Charlotte in Bagenalstown, Co. Carlow.
