Boyle GAA club weekly update

There was no winner of this weeks Club lotto of €7,500. €20 winners were David McKeon, Gillian Cleary, Ams Sean McGarry. The numbers drawn were 7, 14, 21 & 32.

The Club held a very successful AGM last weekend. There was a large turn out to discuss events both on and off the field. There were changes of personnel in a few different posts. Tributes were paid to outgoing secretary Mary Clifford and and Lotto leader Aidan Lavin. Both members have given the Club their full support and attention for many years with Aidan Lavin being in the lotto team/committee for 18 years now. There was a special word of thanks for all their endeavours from Chair Kathleen Hanmore and also from Martin Dolan. There were other substitutions to the top table and various officer roles. Incoming secretary Jan Flanagan, incoming assistant secretary Mary Doyle, assistant treasurer Mary Halligan, incoming children’s office Claire Byrne, outgoing assistant treasurer Sandra Carroll is the Auditor of the implementation of the Clubs 3 year plan.

We wish each and every officer, incoming and outgoing, success in their roles. Best wishes and thanks also to Minor board officers Jim McGrath and Maura Casey.

The Club would like to thank as always the generosity of the teams sponsors which is much appreciated.

The club is glad to ratify both last years Senior and Junior team managers of Basil Mannion and Steve Tonry respectively.

Members were briefed on the launch of a 3 year plan on developments within the club, more will follow on this plan in future notes.

The was also attention brought to the recent spate of vandalism around the Clubs grounds. It had been decided to erect cctv around the grounds and to install brighter sensor lights. On this note, if any one does see any suspicious activity around the old club house or on the grounds in general please report it to a board member or the the Garda.

Finally on the AGM, the club wishes Mary Clifford luck in the Roscommon Volunteer of the year awards in Kilbride community centre this Friday evening at 7 o clock.

Elsewhere on the Minor notes, Boyle GAA held their minor presentation on Saturday evening in St Joseph’s Hall. Special guest was Roscommon Senior star Fintan Cregg. MC on the night was Junior Smith, father of Roscommon stars Enda and Donnie Smith. Outgoing Minor committee chairperson Jim McGrath thanked all players, coaches, parents and sponsors for the year gone. With all ages group present from u8’s to minor, medals were presented to them by Fintan and the current age group manager. On the night each age group were celebrated for their successful year with the U12’s as semi-final championship, U14 ‘s reaching the Peile Feile semi-final and Div 1 Championship runners up, U16’s as Div 1 Shield winners and the Minors as Div 3 Champions. A special presentation was made by senior committee chairperson Kathleen Hanamore to outgoing minor chairperson Jim McGrath and outgoing minor secretary Maura Casey for their huge contribution to Boyle GAA over the last few years. Kathleen Hanamore finished up the night with a few words on the huge work that is being undertaken by minor committee, coaches and parents and most importantly the players.
