Boyle GAA news 7/4/14

The U14s will commence their league campaign on this Thursday against Eire Og in Loughglynn at 7pm. The u16s unfortunately failed to field a team against St Croans on Sunday. This is a worrying trend and one which needs to be investigated as it not something we as a club want reoccurring. The team are scheduled to play St Faithleachs in the Abbey Park on Monday next 14th April at 6.45pm and we would encourage anyone around to come down and support the team. The National Automation Limited minors lost to Roscommon Gaels in the Division 2 League on Tuesday last. They will play Western Gaels in Frenchpark on this Tuesday at 6.45pm. The Cooney Motors Juniors will commence their Division 4 League campaign on this Friday at 7.30pm in Ballyfarnon against St Ronans. The McGovern Directional Drilling Seniors will play Roscommon Gaels in the O’Rourke Cup on Sunday next in Lisnamult at 2pm. They will have a home outing against Western Gaels on Good Friday. Thanks to all who joined in the Pieta House walk as it left from the Abbey Park on Thursday morning last. The Club officers have Pieta House sponsorship cards and anyone who wishes to make a donation to this worthy cause (assistance to those who are at risk of suicide) may contact any of the officers. Club Rossie Draw tickets may be obtained from Boyle’s Club Rossie Ambassador Michael Junior Smith at 086 2531736. There are great prizes on offer and there are goodies available to each purchaser and 10% of proceeds of each ticket remains with the Club. It is a great time to support Club Rossie with the positive performances of our county teams. Congratulations to Roscommon U21s and to Nigel Dineen and his management team on winning the Connacht title at the weekend, and especially to Enda and Donie Smith on their performances with the team. Congratulations to Enda, on deservedly winning the Man of the Match award. Congratulations to Sean Purcell and Catriona Daly who got married on Friday last in Mulranny Co. Mayo. It was great to see so many club members attend and everyone in such fine form as the sun shone on a lovely part of the world. The wedding trend continues on Friday next when player of the year from last year Mark O’Connor will walk down the aisle with Amy Sweeney in Geevagh. If anyone is looking for a few trees trimmed hold off a week or two! The best wishes to both on the big day.

The Ladies U16 team had a great win over St. Dominic’s on Sunday. They led from the start until near the end when Dominic’s went ahead by one point. Boyle scored a goal in injury time to win the game by two points.

Thanks is extended to St. Michaels for hosting the U12 blitz. It was very enjoyable. The ladies team play their next league game against Four Roads on Sunday 13th April in Boyle, time to be confirmed.

Congratulations to ladies player Emer Killilea on her recent engagement.  Best wishes to former player Jenny Conroy on her wedding this coming Friday!
