Boyle GAA Club Notes

Boyle’s Abbey Park had one of its biggest crowds of the year on Saturday last when the Club hosted  the Garda Cup and Keenan Cup finals. Tulsk overcame Strokestown in an excellent Garda Cup (U13) Final. Garda Michael Pilkington presented the Garda Cup on behalf of the Boyle Garda District while Loyola and Melissa Kelly were present to present the player of the match award in memory of the late Sergeant Sean Kelly. Our own Boyle U11s had a great win over St Michaels in the Keenan Cup Final in what was an exceptional game of football. The scoreline wasn’t an accurate reflection of the game as St Michaels played excellent football and they fought gallantly until the final whistle. Mary Keenan Doyle and Fiona Keenan were on hand to present the Keenan Cup and the player of the match award on behalf of the Keenan family. The Club extends its best wishes to Ernie Keenan for a speedy recovery following a recent accident. Thanks to all who assisted in the smooth  running of the finals, especially the Minor Club officials who catered for the multitudes.

The National Automation Limited U21s went down to a superior Roscommon Gaels side in the Division 1 County Final in Enfield on Sunday. The team has had a great season and while it is disappointing to come up short in the final, the lads should take heart from getting to the final as most of the panel will be eligible again next year. Thanks to the panel and the management team for their commitment throughout the season. The Club congratulates Roscommon Gaels on their success.
The Cooney Motors/ Cooney’s Centra juniors will play Clan na Gael in the Division 4 League Semi Final in Johnstown on this Wednesday night at 8.30pm. This is a very important game for the Club as victory would ensure Tansey Cup football in 2014.
Arrangements are being put into place for the annual Christmas Quiz which will be held in St Joseph’s Hall on Friday 27th December. This is traditionally a special night for the parish and those returning for Christmas are reminded to enter the date in diaries.
Club member Peter Gavigan is wished a speedy recovery following an accident.
Sympathy is extended to the O’Boyle family on the death of Mrs Mae O’Boyle.
The Club(male and female sections) extends best wishes to Ladies Club player Sinead Cummins who will wed Trevor Conroy on Friday next
