Boyle records a crime free Christmas

Local Gardai have reported a crime free Christmas in the Boyle Garda District.

There were no public order or drink driving offences detected over the holiday period, up to Tuesday evening 27th December.

A spokesperson for Boyle Gardai told Boyletoday.com that a number of checkpoints were conducted in the lead up to and over Christmas period and all motorists who were breathalysed were under the limit.

The spokesperson thanked the public for being law abiding and advised that the anti drink driving campaign will continue into the New Year.

“If you are going out for a drink, it is advisable to leave the car at home as there will be checkpoints throughout the district over the next number of days and weeks”.

Assistant Garda Commissioner Michael Finn recently said that drivers getting behind the wheel the morning after a night of drinking remains a problem – including the drives of articulated lorries.

“If you go out at night-time, do plan ahead. Get a taxi home, or walk. But whatever you do, never ever drink and drive.” added the Assistant Commissioner.
