Boyle students in National Finals

Abbey Community College, Boyle will be represented at the National Finals of the Comortas Beo competition in Killarney on Wednesday November 2nd.

Ronan Dwyer and ‘Ceoltóirí na Búille’ will perform at the annual Irish Song Writing Competition for young people between the ages of 11 and 18.

Only 2 entries from each province were selected for the live final.

‘D’fhág mé’, the entry from Abbey Community College Boyle involves students of first and second year and is a collaboration of the Music and Irish departments in the school.

Scríobh Ronan amhrán as Gaeilge with the help of Leanne Regan in first year who composed some of the lyrics. Featuring Ruth Duggan and Ronan as lead vocalists, the supporting accompaniment boasts some of the amazing musical talent of Abbey Community College. The performance will feature Ronan on piano, Robyn Wilson on violin, Niamh Clancy on concertina, Iarla Regan on accordion, Shane Carr on flute and Amy O’Neill on harp.

Two first year students, Glen Moore and Zoli Warner, filmed the recording of the song and made a YouTube video for the purpose of the competition.
