Christmas lights committee thank you

The official Turning On of Boyle Christmas Lights was last Saturday on the Crescent. Great crowds gathered, to assist in the turning on of the lights with Santa who landed on a beautiful new Sleigh led by Keith on his tractor. Our five prize winners from 5 of our local schools were very happy to assist Santa in his duties also! Such an event can only happen with support and assistance from so many in our Community. Very special thanks to Ronan O’ Conghaile of Ardcarne Garden Centre who kindly sponsored our newest feature a Giant Christmas Tree – located on the Crescent. To Roscommon Co Council, Joe Simons Builders Providers, Ritchie Walsh, Johnny Keville and Frank Dwyer, all working together to ensure the tree looks its best!-thank you all,

Great thanks to Santa who took the time out of his busy schedule to switch on the Boyle Christmas Lights and to our Boyle Scouts for being with us, to Supervalu and Londis for their donations to the event; to the Fishing Club, DJ Dermot, Patrick Hatter, Stewards who gave of their time,  the Gardai, and Brian Kelly who co-ordinated the event; and to all the Lights crew. To Martin Connolly, and to the Men’s Shed for allowing Santa use the fabulous new Sleigh. It takes a community to run a community event and in Boyle we are very fortunate to have such wonderful support. On behalf of Boyle Chamber we congratulate Boyle Town Team for portraying Boyle and the Community at its best and gaining the Overall Prize in the Bank of Ireland Enterprising Town Awards.

Boyle’s Christmas Lights Draw with a €2000 cash pool will be held on Friday 6th January. Lines are available in all businesses at €2 per line or €3 for 5. We appeal to all business to keep selling the lines to ensure Boyle can continue to light up at Christmas!
