Christmas lights committee thanks

Boyle Christmas Lights Team thank most sincerely all who so generously supported our Christmas Cash Draw the proceeds of which go towards the annual running costs of the lights.

This year our sales reached €6,000 which is a phenomenal figure and to all who subscribed to the draw, and to the businesses who made donations …thank you.

Our 2017 costs which include prizes, electricity charges, additional lights for our trees and maintenance of existing lights totalled €5,300.

This year an additional cost of €14,000 was necessary to upgrade the infrastructure to support the lights. Very special thanks to Boyle Town Team and Boyle Chamber of Commerce for their very generous donations which enabled the upgrading to take place.

We are very grateful to Ardcarne Garden Centre for their donation of the two beautiful Christmas trees, to John Keville of John Keville Engineering for allowing us the use of his teleporter for the erection & taking down the lights, to Tony Scanlon, Joe Simon, Martin Connolly, Roscommon Co Council, Scouting Ireland and Boyle Fire Service for their support over the festive season.

Special thanks to our great dedicated team of volunteers who despite poor weather conditions gave many long nights to light up Boyle this year.

After much thought the Christmas Lights team have decided that the Christmas Draw will be our only fundraising event in 2018.  We will not be hosting the Good Friday Quiz.  In making this decision we are appealing to all businesses in the town to get involved in 2018 to light up Boyle.

Currently a small team of people co-ordinate the fund-raising and have been doing this for the past four years – we are now hoping for Boyle traders to take over!

Let’s all work together to keep out town bright!
