Controversy has arisen over an appointment by Ballymote TD John Perry.
The Fine Gael Sligo North Leitrim TD has issued a statement today after it emerged he had appointed his wife to a €38,000 a year parliamentary assistant position.
John Perry says she has only been in the role on a paid basis since January and he has now appointed a new assistant to take up the role.
