Dark Lies the Island starts filming

Film crews have arrived in Boyle for this week’s shooting of “Dark Lies The Island” which will be shown on RTE in the future.

‘Dark Lies The Island’ is a feature film with a script from Kevin Barry, based on characters from his short story collection of the same name.

The film will be directed by Ian FitzGibbon.

‘Dark Lies The Island’ will feature well-known Irish actors who are already fans of Kevin’s work.

Filming schedule

Filming will take place in the general Boyle area from Monday until Friday.

The general Lough Key area will be the location on Monday and Tuesday so there will be little activity in town.

Wednesday and Thursday will see the crew filming interior and exterior scenes in the now closed takeaway on Shop Street.

During this time occasional intermittent traffic control will take place for short intervals.

Friday 29th will see filming on the Crescent and Main Street and this will require a similar level of coneing similar to what the town witnessed during Moone Boy.
