Boyle Celtic B remain unbeaten in the Roscommon District League Division Two after drawing two-a-piece with Rahara Rovers in a feisty affair at Celtic Park on Saturday night.

In a frantic opening few minutes, both sides had their chances. Boyle had the best of the chances. Jack Tymon and James Bolger both headed wide for the home side, while Rahara had a chance of their own with number seven inches away from breaking the deadlock.

The game quietened down considerably thereafter with the chances few and far between.

Boyle Celtic and Conor Deery opened their account after thirty-seven minutes.  Deery’s free kick on the right-hand side lobbed the goalkeeper and looped into the back of the visitor’s net.

The away side equalised only five minutes later. A brilliant through ball was fired low and hard into the back of Paddy Goldrick’s net.

The second period was slow to get going. Boyle had the majority of the chances with Cian McKeon and Colin Goldrick both firing over.

Amidst a handful of yellow cards, Boyle produced a flowing move. A diagonal ball from McKeon was nodded down by Deery to Gary Goldrick who rattled the crossbar.

With eight minutes remaining, Celtic must of thought they were ahead. A Bolger corner reached the head of Mick Kelly, whose powerful header was cleared by a Rahara defender.

Boyle were awarded a penalty on eighty-three minutes. A handball in the box by an opposition defender resulted in a spot kick for the home side. Deery stepped up and tucked it away emphatically.

By no means was the game over. Goalkeeper Goldrick produced a point blank save and there was drama minutes later.

A free kick on the right- hand side was fired into the back of the Boyle net by Rahara’s number two, which sparked wild celebrations.

That was the last action of the match as it finished at Celtic Park, Boyle Celtic (B) 2 Rahara Rovers 2.
