Gardaí are investigating the explosion of a device in Ballisodare in County Sligo.
The device is believed to have exploded under a van on Young’s Road at about 5am this morning.
It caused damage to nearby property, however the situation was not discovered until this afternoon.
Army bomb disposal experts were called to the scene to carry out post-blast analysis.
A number of residents were evacuated from their homes after the discovery was made at about 3pm this afternoon.
They returned to their homes at about 7pm this evening.
The scene has been preserved.
