€40k funding for local projects

A number of projects in the general Boyle area have been awarded a total of €40,400 under the Built Heritage Investment Scheme 2018 and the Structures at Risk Scheme 2018.

Structures at Risk Scheme

€20,000 has been allocated towards Rockingham Stable Yard, Lough Key Forest Park, Boyle, Co. Roscommon

Knockranny House, Keadue, Boyle, Co. Roscommon will receive €7,000

The Structures at Risk Fund supports conservation works to historic structures, in both private and public ownership, which are at significant risk of deterioration.  The Fund encourages the regeneration and reuse of heritage properties and helps to secure protected structures which might otherwise be lost.

Built Heritage Investment Scheme

Boyle Courthouse will receive €5,000.

The Gatehouse, Carrick Road, Croghan, Boyle will receive €4,200.

Moylurg House, Clogher, Boyle will receive €4,200.

370 structures nationwide were awarded funding under the Built Heritage Scheme, many are historic places of worship and residences.

A number are for re-thatching of buildings of special interest and there are repairs to follies, cathedrals, mills and forges among the successful projects.

These grants have been awarded following assessments by local authorities who accepted applications from members of the public and put recommended projects forward to the Minister for approval.
