The final day of the commemoration of the ‘Election of the Snows’ to mark the centenary of the election of Count Plunkett as an MP for North Roscommon concluded in Boyle on Saturday evening.
Chaired by Claire Kirrane, proceedings during the day included various enactments and addresses by MEP Matt Carthy, Dr Conor McNamara, Honor O’Brochlain and Deputy Leader of Sinn Fein Mary Lou McDonald TD.
A presentation of the Tricolour was made to Frank Geelan of Boyle Courthouse Restoration Committee.
Singer Bernadine Casserly gave renditions of “Grace” and “The West’s Awake” before the evening concluded with a torch lit presentation through the town.
