Gurteen man dies in accident

Gardai are issuing an appeal for information following the death of a Gurteen man who was found seriously injured on a roadside near Curry in Co. Sligo on Thursday night last.

74 year old John Meehan of Boutinagh, Carracastle, and formerly Riversdale in Gurteen, died in Beaumont Hospital on Saturday evening.

He was found at 9.30pm on Thursday a short distance from his home, around half a mile from Tonnagh Crossroads, which is about 2 miles from Curry.

Anyone who may have travelled through the townland of Boutinagh, that evening between 6pm and 9.30pm is asked to contact the incident room at Swinford Garda Station on 094 9252990 or any Garda Station.
