Man killed in accident is named

An investigation has commenced following what is understood to have been an industrial accident in Ballaghaderreen this morning.

A man with serious injuries was airlifted to University College Hospital shortly after 10am following the accident at a steel works on the Charlestown Road.

He subsequently lost his fight for life.

The man has been named as Gerry Griffin, Crennane Bridge, Ballaghaderreen.

Gardai and the Health safety Authority are investigation
