Information sought for new book

The forthcoming book ‘They Dared to Challenge in the Garrison Town of Boyle”, by Barry Feely is now well advanced, in near final draft form.
This very much a local story and reflects the period 1914-1922 and sets the scene in Boyle via the OLD IRA, the RIC and the British Army.
They were the three forces in conflict. The book specifically deals with the North Roscommon IRA Brigade which includes, Boyle, Rock of Doon, Ballinameen, Breedogue, Frenchpark and Fairymount.
Barry is looking for interesting family stories and photographs of the period but only in relation to the dates, and areas mentioned.
This is not an account of the Civil War period.
One of the interesting facts to come out of the research so far is that we became aware of four IRA dugouts in the area.
We also have a very large photograph of the North Roscommon Brigade showing over 40 people.
There are still some faces that require identification.
You are very welcome to come in and view it at Feelystone offices, Greatmeadow, Boyle.
The book will not be released until early 1916 but a final date is not yet decided.
