Job loses at Aurivo in Achonry

Butter production will continue in Aurivo’s dairy ingredients site in Ballaghaderreen following news that job losses may occur at the companys plant in Achonry.

According to RTE.ie, 20 jobs may be at risk in Achonry, Co Sligo following the decision by Aurivo Consumer Foods to transfer its butter packing operation from the village to a new packing facility in Mitchelstown, Co Cork operated by Ornua, in which Aurivo is a significant shareholder.

Aurivo, which produces Connacht Gold branded dairy products, says a 30-day consultation process has begun with affected employees and options will be explored to ascertain if there are opportunities to relocate employees to other Aurivo operations.

The company said “all efforts will be made to assist colleagues find alternative employment, including the provision of external support”.

The Achonry site will continue as a national distribution hub for Aurivo Consumer Foods, while administration, and sales & marketing functions will remain in Aurivo’s head office in Finisklin, Sligo.
