Senior Match Report

Carrick on Shannon Seniors played their first home match of the new season at Castlecarra last Saturday evening September 26th. Greggs once again provided the opposition on a beautiful autumnal evening.
The game started slowly with Greggs piling on the pressure on the Carrick defence but Carrick were first to score moving the ball quickly from the scrum out to the left wing where Liam Logan outsprinted the Creggs defence to score in the corner for the first try of the game. Out half Kevin Coffey secured the extra points by scoring the conversion from a tight angle.
The second half was controlled by Carrick and was played mostly in the Creggs half of the pitch with the Carrick pack driving over in the corner to score a second try. Carrick scored a third try later in the game following some excellent movement by the backs which released Eddie Weaver to score in the corner.
The game finished 17 – 0 and our thanks must go to a sporting Creggs team who travelled to Carrick.

U14 Match Report

On Sunday September 27th Carrick on Shannon RFC U14 team took on a Longford selection in Longford.
It was an excellent opportunity for Carrick to get some competitive match practice prior to the start of the U14 Connacht league in the next few weeks.

Carrick started the game with a more experienced team but quickly introduced some new players off the bench to give them their first taste of action.

Carrick settled into the game more quickly and had racked up a sizeable lead before Longford struck back with a number of excellent tries to leave the match very much in the balance for the last quarter.
Tries by A. Maziya, E. Farrel, K. McCauley, E McLoughlin and C. Singleton with conversions being scrored by E. Matthews and E. Farrell.
