A former secondary school teacher in the local community, Marie left teaching to pursue research at NUI Galway. The research involved members of the local retired communtiy with four primary schools in the Boyle area.
Marie’s study showed that intergenerational engagement is a successful vehicle for activating young children’s civic engagement in Irish Primary Schools.
