Plaque unveiling at Boyle Courthouse

Boyle Old IRA Commemorative Committee will erect a plaque today at Boyle Courthouse to acknowledge the contribution made by Boyle volunteers in our fight for freedom.

The plaque will be unveiled by Frank Shouldice, grandson of the Frank Shouldice who unveiled the existing plaque during the 1966 bi-centenary.

The plaque is sponsored by Feelystone.

The Irish Army E Company of the 6th Infantry Batallion will provide a colour party.

The event takes place during Boyle Arts Festival, on Wednesday 27th July at 5pm at Boyle Courthouse.

This will be followed by a talk by Barry Feely on his new book They Dared to Challenge. Barry will be joined by Frank Shouldice, journalist and author of Grandpa the Sniper – (a book about his grandfather Frank Shouldice, a Ballaghaderreen man).

The talk takes place at 5.45pm at King House, Boyle.

All are welcome and the committee would be particularly pleased to see all Old IRA family members
