Primary Care Centre concern raised

Fears are growing that the Boyle Primary Care Centre, currently under construction, may be moved to the remit of a different community health organisation.

That’s according to Roscommon Galway TD Eugene Murphy who has said concerns have been raised with him that the Boyle Primary Care Centre may be moved into the North Western Division.

Boyle Primary Care Centre currently operates under the CHO Area 2, Galway, Mayo and Roscommon but Deputy Murphy understands that it is currently being mooted to move the care centre in Boyle under the North West Division.

“I am deeply concerned at the implications which such a move could mean for patients and staff alike –we could end up with the situation whereby certain issues are dealt with in Boyle but patients may then to asked to attend Sligo or further afield for different health issues which would be totally inconvenient for people in the Boyle catchment area. I would be totally opposed to any such move and I am seeking urgent clarification from the Minister for Health and the HSE in relation to the matter,” said Deputy Murphy.
