Roscommon second in IBAL league

Roscommon town has been named the second cleanest town in Ireland in the Irish Business Against Litter (IBAL) league.

Kildare were overall winners with Ashbourne, Thurles and Waterford also in the top five.

Nine of the ten locations surveyed in Roscommon town got a top litter rating making this result one of the best to date for the county town.

Out of the 40 areas across the country examined, Galvone in Co Limerick and Farranree in Co Cork were also judged to be “seriously littered”.

A total of 70pc of the towns and cities surveyed by An Taisce on behalf of Ibal were found to be “clean to European norms”, compared with 85pc two years ago.
