Five years ago, the Connaught Rangers Association (CRA) embarked on a mission to transform King House into a vibrant hub of local history. Today, thanks to tireless volunteer efforts and incredible community backing, the Connaught Rangers Museum stands proudly as a renewed beacon of Boyle’s heritage!

Our mission remains steadfast: to honour the legacy of the Connaught Rangers, preserve their stories for future generations, and share Roscommon’s unique military history with Ireland and beyond.
“Museums like ours are bridges connecting past and present,” says CRA Chairman PJ Maloney. “By safeguarding our shared history, we build community pride and replace ignorance with understanding.”
Exciting News: Heritage Council Grant Secured!
We’re thrilled to announce the success of our application to the Heritage Council of Ireland! Awarded €17,433 under their Community Heritage Grant Scheme, this funding will directly enhance your museum experience:
- Upgraded display cabinets for better viewing.
- Professional framing of historic photographs.
- A new digital photo display system.
- Improved archival storage to protect precious artefacts.
- New children’s activity sheet for use by our younger visitors.
A Museum Reimagined for All
Blending tradition with innovation, the museum now features interactive technology, digitised records, and deeply personal artefacts donated by Roscommon families – from letters to uniforms – bringing the bravery of local soldiers vividly to life.
“Every item tells a story,” adds PJ Maloney. “We are profoundly grateful to the families of Boyle and beyond for entrusting us with their heirlooms. These treasures ensure our Rangers’ sacrifices are never forgotten.”
