New features at Connaught Rangers Museum in Boyle

The Committee of the Connaught Rangers Association is delighted to announce that they are entering the final stages of their latest museum redevelopment phase in King House in Boyle.

As their collection has grown, they say new display cases were essential. To ensure continuity and quality, they once again engage the services of Alphaset Ltd., who worked with them on the first phase of development three years ago.

This phase includes several exciting new features designed to enhance your visit:

The Connaught Rangers Exhibition: A key focus is the story of the Connaught Rangers mutiny in India, 1920, and James Daly. To encourage deeper visitor engagement, we have recreated the prison cell where Daly was held prior to his execution, using authentic images sourced from India. This powerful installation is complemented by new informational graphics and footage.

Interactive Photo Wall: To share more of our collection within our limited space, we have installed a new photo wall featuring a 32-inch digital photo frame. This allows us to display a dynamic rotation of historical images.

Tribute to Lt. Col. H.F.N. Jourdain: We are proud to unveil a new display honouring the last Colonel of the Connaught Rangers. Following the regiment’s disbandment in 1922, Lt. Col. Jourdain devoted his life to preserving its history, including publishing a definitive history in 1924. For over 40 years, he edited The Ranger magazine, which served as a vital link for veterans.

We invite you to share in this history. If you have any items related to these displays that you would consider donating to the museum, they would be received with the utmost gratitude and care.

“We wish to formally acknowledge that this project would not have been possible without the generous funding provided by The Heritage Council Ireland.” the Association concluded.
