Boyle Christmas Display Awards hope to brighten our town
In their efforts to light up Boyle this Christmas, the volunteers on the Christmas Lights Committee have come up with an additional way of enticing business and home owners to decorate and brighten up their premises for the Christmas season. While the committee can erect the street lights, if the businesses and home owners help by decorating their premises it will make Boyle so much more visually attractive in the run up to the festive season. With this in mind, the inaugural “Boyle Christmas Display Awards” was launched recently with the aim of celebrating the brightest and most festive homes and businesses in our town.
Award Categories include: Best House Display, Best Front Garden Display, Best Retail/Restaurant Display, Best Pub Display and Boyle Christmas Display of the Year (Overall Winner). To enter, simply decorate your home, garden or business for the festive season, judges hope to visit as many as possible or you can email your entry to [email protected]. The winners will be announced on December 20th. Details of the switching on of the Boyle Christmas Lights on Saturday December 6th will be announced shortly. In the meantime, you can donate to the lights GoFundMe here.

And finally…..!
It was at the end of the school year, and teacher was receiving gifts from her pupils.
The florist’s son handed her a gift. She shook it, held it overhead, and said, “I bet I know what it is. Some flowers.”
“That’s right” the boy said, “but how did you know?”
“Oh, just a wild guess,”” she said.
The next pupil was the sweet shop owner’s daughter. The teacher held her gift overhead, shook it, and said, “I bet I can guess what it is. A box of sweets.”
“That’s right, but how did you know?” asked the girl. “Oh, just a wild guess,” said the teacher.
The next gift was from the son of the off licence owner. The teacher held the package overhead, but it was leaking. She touched a drop of the leakage with her finger and put it to her tongue.
“Is it wine?” she asked. “No,” the boy replied, with some excitement.
The teacher repeated the process, taking a larger drop of the leakage to her tongue. “Is it champagne?” she asked. “No,” the boy replied, with more excitement. The teacher took one more taste before declaring, “I give up, what is it?”
With great glee, the boy replied, “It’s a puppy!”
