Aldi decision postponed pending further information

The highly anticipated decision of An Coimisiun Pleanala in relation to the Aldi development on St. Patrick Street in Boyle has been put on hold pending further information in relation to a specific issue.
In a letter dated June 18th to parties involved, An Coimisiun Pleanala said: “The Commission propose to take into account the following: The Commission noted the requirements in policy objective NH10.4 as set out in the Roscommon Co Development Plan 2022 – 2028, the protected status of bats as per Annex IV of the EU Habitats Directive (Directive 92/43/EEC) European Communities (Birds and Natural Habitats) regulation 2011, as amended and the statement in the ecological assessment that a bat derogation licence will be required for the removal of a bat roost on the site prior to development”.
“The Commission might take into consideration that no bat derogation licence was provided in the application or appeal documentation”.
The Commission went on to say: “As this would constitute a new issue in the context of an appeal the parties are requested to make submissions on or before July 15th”.
“Any submission or observation you make should be confined to the issues specified above as the Commission cannot consider comments that are outside the scope of the matter in question”.
