Artist sought for new Boyle mural project

Boyle Arts Festival is thrilled to announce an exciting new public art commission and they are inviting artists to submit proposals for a mural project that will celebrate the creativity, culture, and community spirit of Boyle.
As part of the ongoing enhancement of the historic King House Garden, BAF are commissioning a vibrant, imaginative mural for the south boundary wall — a new focal point for visitors and locals alike during the festival and throughout the year.
The commission will involve the designing, producing and installing a 75 ft by 3 ft low-level wall mural to celebrate Boyle Arts Festival.
The mural should reflect the artistic spirit and vibrancy of Boyle Arts Festival, engaging visitors while complementing the historic surroundings of King House and the landscaped garden environment.
Artistic Style and Materials
Illustrative and Artistic: Bring bold, vibrant visuals with artistic flair.
Cultural References: The committee encourage incorporating themes related to King House’s role as a historic and cultural centre.
Durability: Use weather-resistant materials — either directly painted onto the wall or applied via a printed aluminium plate fixed with stainless steel bolts.
Smooth Transitions: The mural should feel harmonious with the garden’s design and the heritage backdrop of King House.
Budget
A total commission budget of €10,000 is available, inclusive of design, production and installation.
Submission Deadline: 4pm, Monday 19th May 2025
Notification of Successful Artist: Friday 23rd May 2025

A planning meeting will be scheduled shortly after the artist’s appointment with the Festival Chairperson, the King House Manager and the Roscommon Arts Officer.
