Bad debts at Hospital €2,200 in 2013

Figures obtained recently by the Medical Independent show that Roscommon County Hospital had to write off debts of €2,200 in 2013.

The debts arose due to non payment of inpatient, emergency department and private charges at the hospitals concerned.

Cork University Hospital wrote off the highest debt at €1.2m and in total the HSE wrote off €11m in 2013.

In 2012 the bad debt figure for non payment of charges in the HSE was €1.5m lower at €11.5m
