Boyle connection to ‘Patrick: A Young Traveller Lost’

Patrick: “A Young Traveller Lost” is a groundbreaking documentary that will air tonight Monday November 27th at 9.30pm on RTE One.

The documentary was constructed by Boyle native Gráinne Creighton, who is a very successful film editor based in London with a wide portfolio of work.

‘Patrick: A Young Traveller Lost’ shines a light on the urgent and sensitive issue of the suicide rates among the Irish Traveller community through the harrowing deeply personal story of 12 year old Patrick Mc Donagh from Finglas who lost his life to suicide a year ago. This deeply moving unprecedented film created in close collaboration with the Irish Traveller community providing an opportunity to ignite conversations.

In 2020, Alan directed the hit RTÉ ONE documentary “Sean” exploring the life of the legendary GAA manager Sean Boylan to critical acclaim and was the most watched documentary on Irish television the month it aired!
His documentary ‘Unspoken’ highlighting men’s eating disorders

All of the above documentaries have been constructed solely by Gráinne, who is daughter of Eddie and Sylvia who run the successful and highly popular licensed premises – Creightons –  in Boyle.

A special premiere of the documentary was held in The Lighthouse Cinema on Thursday 23rd and was attended by President Michael D. Higgins with Q & A’s after screening hosted by Ray Darcy.

This morning (Monday), President Higgins has called on schools across the country to show the documentary to students about the impact of suicide on the Irish Traveller community.
