Boyle L.E.A. records 89 Covid cases in the last fortnight

There were 89 cases of Covid-19 in the Boyle Electoral Area (L.E.A.) in the last fortnight. This is an increase from 65 cases in the previous two week period.

The 14 day incidence rate in the Boyle L.E.A. now stands at 407.7 per 100,000 population. The national average is 695.

The numbers, which were released on Thursday night, relate to the 14 day period from October 19th to November 1st.

The Boyle L.E.A. is not Boyle town alone, but a large area (see map here) and stretches from Tarmonbarry in the east to Ballaghaderreen in the west and north to Lough Allen and has a population of 21,831.

The Roscommon L.E.A., with a population of 22,734 has the highest incidence rate in the county of 699.4 per 100k with 159 confirmed cases while the third L.E.A. in the county – Athlone with a population of 19,979, has a 14 day incidence rate of 690.7 and 138 confirmed cases of Covid-19.

The Carrick on Shannon LEA, with a population of 11,361 has recorded a high 14 day rate of 1056.2 with 120 confirmed cases during the period.
