Growing concern in Boyle at anti social behaviour on N4

There is growing concern in the general Boyle area at large numbers of cars speeding, racing and ‘doughnuting’ on the N4 outside Boyle every night since Christmas Eve.
Boyletoday.com has been contacted by numerous viewers outlining their annoyance at the events including what one viewer alleged was ‘intimidation’ after they went to the vicinity of the Gaelic Chieftain on the N4 on Monday night to see could they identify those involved, resulting in the person being followed home by one of the cars in attendance.
Another viewer told of frightened children being awoken up around midnight each night, scared by the noise of the cars reeving and racing along the roadway, while others said they had witnessed cars driving at exceptional speed through town and along roads in Boyle nightly since Christmas, from 11pm onwards, to join the ‘meet ups’.
Other locations mentioned for this form of anti social behaviour include Brislagh, the Ballymote road, Ballinafad and the slip road into Boyle from the N4 at Tawnytaskin.
It is understood a number of people phoned in complaints to An Garda Siochana over the last few nights with others saying they have complained in person during day time opening hours at the Garda Station.
Boyletoday.com requested a statement on the issue from the Garda Press Office at 10.43am Tuesday morning but to date we have not received a reply.
