Roscommon County Council wishes to provide a further update on the ongoing remediation works at Boyle Library, King House, Boyle.
A specialist remediation contractor continues to progress the phased programme of investigative and remediation works, undertaken in full accordance with environmental, archaeological and heritage requirements. This work remains ongoing and is advancing as scheduled.
To ensure continuity of library services for the Boyle community while remediation works continue, Roscommon County Council has identified a suitable temporary premises at Boyle Courthouse.
Some works are required to make the premises suitable for public library services, and a contractor has now been appointed to carry out these works.
The necessary works at Boyle Courthouse are expected to take approximately eight weeks. Once completed, the premises will open as a temporary library facility for Boyle.
In the interim, the Council’s mobile library will continue to operate in Boyle on Mondays and Tuesdays from 11am to 3pm, ensuring ongoing access to library services for the public.
Roscommon County Council appreciates the continued patience and cooperation of the community as we progress this important programme of works. The operation of the upper floors of King House is unaffected by the closure of the library.
