The Commission for Energy Regulation has today published it’s decision on water charges.
Of interest to those in Boyle is the decision to allow 100% discount on the water supply element of the charges.
Customers will still have to pay for waste water.
Below is a relevant extract from the water charges document
Ø Customers will receive a 100% discount on the water supply element of their charge
where the water is unfit for human consumption, once the boil water notice is in place for
at least 24 hours. In other words, there will be no water supply charge to customers in this
case. This compares with the public consultation where a 50% reduction was proposed
for up to 3 months and a 100% reduction only applied thereafter. These customers will
continue to be charged for their wastewater where they are a customer of Irish Water.
