€16,000 raised for cancer research by this year’s Terry Fox Run

The 2025 Terry Fox Run in aid of Cancer Research has been another great success.

The organisers would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who took part and helped out in any way and supported the relaunch of the Terry Fox Run in Boyle for our 30th Anniversary.

Together this year we raised an amazing €16,000 which goes to The Irish Cancer Society Research fund which helps ensure that we can continue being the largest voluntary funder of Cancer Research in Ireland which helps focus on a range of cancer types, across a number of areas like prevention, early detection, better treatments, clinical trials, and survivorship. Research you help to fund directly increases cancer survival rates and improves the lives of those living well with and beyond cancer.

Today, more than 200,000 people are living with and beyond cancer in Ireland. It is your help and kindness that makes it all possible. Because of all your continued support the Irish Cancer Society can continue to fund world class Cancer Research.

The feeling of community spirit was very visible throughout the day from all those who helped out from early morning setting up the hall and the route, those doing registration, providing refreshments and helped out in every way possible and ensuring the smooth running of the event .

Fred Fox was so impressed with the community spirit and liked to mingle in the crowd. He gave a very empowering speech before we started and Sarah from the Irish Cancer Society was also on hand with some statistics on Cancer in Ireland.

There were about 300 participants of all ages and were joined by members of Boyle Fire Service doing the bed push. Some members from the 2001 bed push crew were present and Liam Kearns went in the bed once again for the spin.

First man home in a time of 19.47 was Enda Gilmartin from Sligo AC and first lady home was Siobhan Keenahan in a time of 30.41, who both received the Terry Fox perpetual trophy.
