Extension sought to ‘telecommunications structure’ at Cornameeltha

Planning permission is being sought for an extension to an existing telecommunications tower at Cornameeltha in Boyle.

On Tower Ireland Ltd. has signaled their intention to apply to Roscommon County Council for permission to construct a 6 metre extension with headframe on an existing 30 metre lattice telecommunications support structure carrying telecommunications equipment, together with associated equipment and cabinets enclosed within a 2.4 metre-high palisade fence compound at Cornameelta Townland, Boyle, Co. Roscommon.

The application was lodged on February 14th with a decision due on April 10th.

Meanwhile, Bank of Ireland were granted conditional permission recently for the removal of the existing stone steps at the main entrance, to be replaced by accessible works to the interior to include: a) Existing door and frame to be extended; b) New internal steps from lobby to banking hall; c) Form new internal ramp structure in extended lobby space; d) Remove 3 No. existing internal walls and all associated ancillary site works (the building is a Protected Structure) at Bank of Ireland, Knockashee, Main Street, Boyle.

There are seven conditions attached to the grant of permission for this development.
