Famine Way for Palestine walk concludes on Saturday
Dear friends in Boyle,
As we near the final stretch of the Walk the National Famine Way for Palestine, I’m reaching out with a heartfelt invitation.
After walking 165 km from Strokestown to Dublin, we will arrive at the Famine Memorial Statues on Custom House Quay this Saturday, August 9th at 6pm. This is the same quay where so many famine emigrants departed Ireland in the 1840s, and it is a powerful place to end a walk that has woven together memory, solidarity, and hope.
We would love to see a strong turnout from Boyle at this final gathering, either to walk with us for the final stretch, or simply to be there in support as we arrive. Even if you can’t come yourself, please consider telling friends or family in Dublin to meet us at the Famine Statues. A warm welcome at the end would mean the world.
The walk has been a moving experience, full of stories, music, sorrow, laughter and deep connection between Irish history and the current suffering in Palestine. We’re walking in memory, and in action, raising funds for humanitarian relief.
Gathering Point:
6pm, Saturday August 9th
Famine Memorial Statues, Custom House Quay, Dublin City
Let’s send a message from Boyle to the world – that we remember, and that we care.
With love and thanks,
Maureen Carty
