Food Rescue and Cookery Event

The Roscommon Lamb Festival in association with Roscommon County Council is hosting an informative afternoon with TV3 Ireland AM Chef Joe Shannon starting at 3pm in the Food Marquee in Loughnaneane Park on Sunday 1st May.

Joe Shannon a regular chef on the TV3 show Ireland AM will share practical ideas on reducing food waste and putting more money in your pocket and he will also demonstrate some mouth-watering dishes based in the ideals of reducing food waste.

Suzanne Dempsey, Environmental Education Officer Roscommon County Council explains “we invited Joe Shannon along to give a cookery demonstration at the Lamb Festival this year as he is well known for his championing of methods and ideals in food waste and this is an opportunity for families to learn how to rescue those food stuffs that regularly end up in our bins by incorporating them into delicious and simple recipes that you will even get to taste on the day”

So join Joe, who will share with you some frightening facts on domestic and commercial food waste, he will also share with you some simple but practical ideas on reducing food waste and putting more money in your pockets and he will also demonstrate some mouthwatering dishes based in the ideals of reducing food waste

There will also be advisory stands on how to reduce your food waste through proper storage, shopping tips and a compost demonstration stand with experts on hand to provide information on what to do with food waste.
