The theft of five cattle from Moygara near Gurteen is being investigated by Ballymote Gardai.
The cattle are valued in excess of €6,000.
The animals were taken from a shed on a farm in the Moygara area between 9pm and 9.30pm on Bank holiday Monday.
All of the cows taken were close to calving. Two of the animals were red limousins, there was a black angus, a black white-head cow and a brown cow with white in the forehead.
Gardai are appealing for anyone who may have noticed anything suspicious in the area to contact them and in particular anyone who saw a jeep and trailer in the Gurteen/Monasteraden area on Monday night between 8.3pm and 9.30pm.
