INMO members on picket line duty

Members of the Irish Nurses and Midwives Association are on the picket line in Boyle today.

It is the third day of the dispute with three more strike days planned for next week.

Those on strike duty today once again thanked the people of Boyle:

“We would just like to express our sincere thanks to the kind people and businesses of Boyle who once again who supported the nurses out picketing today. The wonderful community spirit that was shown today is something that should be applauded and acknowledged. We were absolutely bowled over by the kindness of the local people of Boyle and businesses. Thanks so much to Margaret’s Cafe, Drumanilra Farm Kitchen, Londis and to Brian & Jackie Kelly from Surprise’s gift shop”.

Nurses and midwives are on strike over pay and recruitment and retention difficulties

According to the HSE 80,000 appointments in hospitals and community health services have been cancelled to date as a result of the strikes.

It is believed that approximately 27,000 appointments have been cancelled today alone.
