Meeting to get N4 motorway upgrade

Chamber of Commerce members from along the N4 will meet with Government representatives today Tuesday 13th December seeking an upgrade of the N4 road.

Business leaders from eight counties are demanding the Government honours its promises to upgrade the N4 and N5 roads.

Among the works requested will be the much talked about Carrick on Shannon by pass.

The business groups from Roscommon, Mayo, Sligo, Athlone, Donegal, Mullingar, Longford and Leitrim will present their case at a meeting in Buswells Hotel.

A spokesperson for the group said they are seeking the upgrade to motorway status of the roads that connect the midlands and west of Ireland to Dublin.

The also say that the constant postponement of improvement works along both routes is hampering economic development in the region.
