New Year Tractor/Truck Run to visit Boyle on Sunday

The 11th annual Saddlers Inn Tractor/Truck Drive will take place on New Years Day January 1st 2023.

All proceeds of this years drive will go to the Lucy Croghan and Donnacha Horan funds.

Lucy is three and lives in Frenchpark and Donnacha is six and lives in Fairymount. These two local children have had a rough year receiving treatment and we ask you to come out on New Year’s Day to support them and their families.

December 2022 saw Lucy diagnosed with Stage 4 Wilms Tumour and since then she has frequently travelled to Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital in Crumlin for chemotherapy, radiation and more recently stem cell transplants. Lucy’s journey isn’t over yet as she will have surgery to get her lung scrapped to try and clear the scar tissue. Lucy and her family will have regular hospital visits twice a week for the foreseeable and they will be taking it step by step in the next stages of Lucy’s journey.

January 2018 Donnacha was diagnosed with a form of liver disease. In 2019 he suffered a major infection and in 2020 he needed six hospital admissions. January 2022 Donnacha’s parents were told the news that Donnacha would now need a liver transplant. Donnacha has recently returned from England after a liver transplant operation and is working with his team in Crumlin Children’s Hospital in relation to the next steps in his journey.

Registration from 11.30 is at the Saddlers Inn in Kingsland.

Event commences at 1pm.

The route will leave the Saddlers and head to Ballinameen, Four Provinces, enroute  to Carrick-on-Shannon. It will then return to the Saddlers via Boyle and should be in Boyle at approximately 3-3.30pm (This time is approximate and may change).

Over €30,000 has been raised for local families in need and national charities and causes in the last number of tractor drives.
