Rail services resume following ‘tragic incident’

Irish Rail say services will operate as normal today Wednesday on the Dublin Sligo line following a ‘tragic incident’ outside Mullingar on Tuesday evening.

The 17.10 Connolly to Sligo service was suspended as emergency services attended the scene of the incident with bus transfers between Mullingar and Edgeworthstown.

The 19.15 departure also was delayed.

Separately,  there are some delays expected on the line over the next few days as a result of flooding between Dromod and Longford.
