90,900 visited three Boyle attractions

The top three tourist attractions in Boyle were visited by over 90,000 people in 2016.

Figures released to Shannonside FM by Roscommon Co Co show Lough Key Forest Park, Boyle Abbey and King House attracted over 90,900 visitors between them last year.

Lough Key had the highest visitor numbers with over 70,000 followed by King House 13,000 and Boyle Abbey 7,900

Arts Officer for Roscommon Co Co Mary Mullins said they were working on enhanced attractions in the local authority managed King House for the 2017 season.

There have been calls in Boyle for all three attractions to be marketed under the one umbrella as currently Lough Key is operated by Moylurg Rockingham, Boyle Abbey by the OPW and King House by Roscommon Co Co.

The company behing Lough Key Forest and Activity Park – Moylurg Rockingham made a profit of €200,000 in 2016 the report stated.
