Traffic volumes on the increase between Boyle and Carrick

Wednesday December 23rd was one of the busiest for traffic on the N4 between Boyle and Carrick on Shannon.

Figures from Transport Infrastructure Ireland show that 8990 vehicles passed Usna where the TII traffic counter is located on that day.

8651 vehicles passed the point on December 18th – the day travel outside your home county was permitted.

The following are the figures for the week prior to Christmas:

December 14th (6841), December 15th (7138), December 16th (7266), December 17th (7691) and December 18th (8651).

As expected, traffic volumes decreased over Christmas with only 1924 vehicles passing between Boyle and Carrick on Christmas Day.

The figures for Christmas week are as follows:

December 21st (8108), December 22nd (8714), December 23rd (8990), December 24th (5758) and December 25th (1924).
