Large crowd at Scout Den reopening

A large number of parents and friends of scouting in Boyle were in attendance today in the Sports Complex for the official reopening and blessing of Boyle Scout Den and the investiture of beavers, cubs and scouts.

The attendance were welcomed by group leader Trevor Conroy.

Chairperson of Boyle Scouts Garrett Doyle, County Commissioner Charlie Gibbons and former Regional Commissioner Joe Doherty also addressed those in attendance.

Several presentations were made to various leaders for years of service to Scouting in Boyle.

A special memorial to the late Tony Sweeney was also unveiled.

Prior to the blessing of the Scout Den by Canon Gerry Hanly, a presentation of a jersey and photograph from 1933 which belonged to the late Kevin Beirne was made by his son William, wife Breda and grandson Ethan
